Trial in July

Not quite "Moonlight in Vermont," in fact does anyone really likes the sound of that phrase -- "trial in July," sorta like "prostate is enlarged" -- something you just don't want to hear. Anyways, our boy Billy Shields does a smart curtain-raiser on the Marlins trial set for bench trial before poor Judge Cohen on Thursday:
What will happen in the highly publicized trial set to start Thursday is anyone’s guess, but most of it will center on the baseball stadium.

Cohen devised an interlocking burden of proof for the bench trial.

Braman bats first.
Oh Billy, Billy oh Billy, say it ain't so -- a trial about a baseball team and you're going for the "at bat" imagery. I hope your editors made you put that one in. He continues:

His battery of lawyers, which include Coral Gables solo practitioner Gonzalo Dorta and Colson Hicks Eidson partners Roberto Martinez and Paul C. Huck Jr., must convince the judge that the private interest served by the stadium deal would serve a substantial private commercial interest.

If Braman can prove that, the onus shifts to the governments and the Marlins, who must prove to Cohen that the stadium deal was approved with the interest of a “paramount public purpose” in mind.
This doesn't make all that much sense, but assuming these burdens of proof are accurate, I'm betting Braman sustains his burden and Sandy and his bullpen does not. BTW, when is Scott Ponce finally going to get some ink? Sandy, step aside and let your star slugger take a turn at bat (there I can do it too Billy)!

Trial in July? AT my firm a trial in December is worst.

It's a proud day for me boys. I've hit 65! 65 comment rejections from the princess!

9:32, I stand at 32. SFL is one attorney who doesn't have that problem. Been reading the comments from her latest post. Her choice of Britney Spears song is provocative to say the least. That's one song SFL I hope you videotape the princess dancing or 'preforming' to.

10:10, SFL is a kiss ass.

SFL what's your secret in getting comments published by the princess?

Judge Cohen is hawt.

10:10, have you read the lyrics?

11:15, what is the secret SFL? Some of us good guys would like to know.

SFL show some mercy on us.

Dear readers let me quote one of my favorite Clapton tunes:

How many times must I tell you babe,
How many bridges I've got to cross?
How many times must I explain myself
Before I can talk to the boss,
'Fore I can talk to the boss?

How many times must I say I love you
Before you finally understand?
Won't you be my forever woman?
I'll try to be your forever man,
Try to be your forever man.

Pefect song choice SFL.

1:17, great song choice for the princess but most of us wanted to know what it takes to get the princess to publish our comments.

I can't wait for the day when the Cocaine Princess reveals "herself" to be an overweight guy living in his parents' basement.

Really, folks, do you honestly believe that a fashion model could turn out post after grammatically correct and typo-free post? Do you seriously think that she would bother?

There are a handful of lawyers myself included who represent the princess' ex. We all know her true identity. She is a fashion model.

Your comment implies a woman cannot be beautiful AND smart. Why? Is it so hard to believe a woman cannot be both? Does having a college degree framed and hanging on an office wall imply they are smarter than someone who hasn't gone to college? I am in no longer contact with the princess but during the time I was I found her to be nothing short of intelligent. She is more than just a pretty face.

Then let me set the record straight: a woman can be beautiful AND smart. My wife is such an example (although she is a terrible speller).

Why? Is it so hard to believe a woman cannot be both?

See above.

Does having a college degree framed and hanging on an office wall imply they are smarter than someone who hasn't gone to college?

Speaking as someone who practices law in Miami, of course the answer is no. I've met plenty of people with law degrees who can't string two sentences together.

. . .I found her to be nothing short of intelligent. She is more than just a pretty face.

I'd be glad to stand corrected. I've dealt with my share of models (I used to produce television commercials), and most of them have trouble with dinner reservations, much less coherent writing abilities. The Princess' online persona strikes me as a little "too good to be true," as the saying goes.

This conversation could go on for days. I have nothing but praise for her. Some people have the full package both men and women.

"I've met plenty of people with law degrees who can't string two sentences together."

You are not the only one.

8:02, 9:09, word for word-- true.

ADVICE: I understand you wanting to defend the princess as do I but please do not allow yourself to be baited in releasing any further information.

I don't understand the point of the comment left at 8:02. So you were a TV producer and worked with some models. Don't lump all models in one group. My girlfriend is a model and a few morons in my firm joke she probably can't write her own name because of her occupation. She can hold a conversation with anyone and is well versed. Once in a while you're lucky in finding someone who is the full package.

5:03, sir your comment shows a complete lack of thought and common sense,

....grammatically correct and typo-free post?.....

She uses spell check.

Your dealings with 'incoherent' models has led you to believe all models are. If that is true than all us attorneys are 'lying bastards,' all secretaries are 'gum chewing bimbos' and all cops, 'fat and lazy donut eaters.'

12:03, imo my wife is the full package, beauty and brains.
Your office workers appear to be jealous of you. Take it as a compliment!

Why are some lawyers ganging up on the princess? Because she refuses to reveal herself? Or is it because she won't publish their comments? If the reason is the latter she must have an explanation. She blogs about her comings and goings, seriously what harm is she doing? Her blog is a delight to read.

Might as well say it, SFL do say hello to your surfer girl.

6:16, well said.

'Why are some lawyers ganging up on the princess?'

-those who are miserable enjoy making others miserable.

5:03, Hook the princess with as much bait as you can, she ain't gonna bite!

8:59, Why not just say, 'misery loves company.'
