At least six transactional attorneys have left Miami-based Kluger Peretz Kaplan & Berlin, and sources say two of the firm’s name partners may leave after a 22-year association as the firm reorganizes to focus on litigation.I got a kick out of this comment:

Meanwhile, sources say intellectual property co-chair Steven Peretz and bankruptcy co-chair Howard Berlin are planning to leave. Founding partner Alan Kluger declined to comment about their possible departures.
Calls to Peretz and Berlin were not returned.

The teflon case is a clear loser.
I referred a major case to Kluger . He stiffed me on the referral fee. I trusted him as I would any other attorney and failed to get the referral in writing. I have never sent him another case and I have handled them myself. I caution all attorneys to beware of this rascal and do not deal with him except as an opponet.He is one slimy snake.
Big buy at 11:11. Check your Florida bar rules. I don't know Kluger, but I do know that as Florida lawyers, we lawfully cannot pay referral fees if you are not on the retainer. You were the problem.
Oh, and if it was a billable case -- he was probably in the right for not paying a referral.
I thought this was a gentlemen (and gentle ladies) profession. If someone tells me he is going to split the fee or take care of me, I trust his word. But then the lawyers at KPKB should never be trusted for anything. Stab you in the back and chest any chance they can.
Lawyers cannot pay referral fees unless the referral lawyer agrees to assume responsibility and is on the retainer. Check your bar rules.

It was my fault in trusting that kluger was telling me the truth when he stated the retainer had my name on it. However, I have had many other major cases involving the same client and others that kluger lost out on because of his greed. So he lost more than he gained. And I will have another opportunity to litigate against him in the futute, I hope. As for the defamation comment, I do know the law and I say to you, "bring it on" and "pack your lunch".
And here I thought the "Shumie Time" commenters were insufferable . . .

Are you kidding me? The firm is dismantling as I sit here and type this. AK has always said that any changes the firm makes, would be based upon the "fact" that he is trying to revert to "back in the day" when KPKB was a small boutique litigation firm. Why lie to staff and attorneys that work there, that "everything is fine" when layoffs are happening every week. Just goes to show you that stereotypes are stereotypes for a reason. Unbelievable!!
