Pretty well written- should have been, it took almost two years.
Anyway, really the only result that could have been reached in this case. The "Department" didn't even want to argue this case and basically conceded the law had no rational basis.
As for the concurring opinion, I think the part dealing with basically "times have changed" was understandable. But the part dealing with gay marriage was unnecesary. The panel opinion addressed the ridiculous argument that Florida prefers married couples rather than non-married individuals. It seems like it will do nothing but stoke the flames of the "Social values" voters. I like Judge Salter alot, and admire his progressive thinking, but I think it could have been left out.
But where does Charlie stand? Does anybody really know what time it is? Does anyone really care?
This is good news, especially after yesterday's deplorable results on DADT.

I'm not a lawyer, but it seems that all of these gay marriage, gay rights, gay adoptions and similar issues will ultimately all end up with the Supreme Court. I don't think we'll see State by State decisions for these five years from now. There will be a push for more consistency.
